89th Society for American Archaeology (SAA) Annual Meeting

From April 17th – 21st, Lina María Campos Quintero and Jasmine Vieri participated in the 89th Society for American Archeology (SAA) Annual Meeting in New Orleans, United States. In her presentation, Lina discussed the social value of metals in indigenous tombs in the Colombian Caribbean and how this changed with the introduction of European materials, particularly iron, during the early colonial period. Jasmine presented her research on the intra-regional movements of exogenous gold during the pre-Hispanic period in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia. Thank you to the organizers of the symposium “Materials in motion in the isthmus-Colombian area” (Kim Eileen Ruf and Marie Kolbenstetter) for the invitation and for facilitating very interesting conversations on the topic!
